Air Liquide Signs Membrane Contract with North American Helium for Largest Helium Extraction Plant in Canada
News
Air Liquide has developed a customizable helium purification solution using its advanced membrane technology, to support the largest helium purification plant in Canada, at North America Helium's site in southwest Saskatchewan.
Air Liquide will supply its highly advanced, modular helium purifier, which will allow North American Helium to produce up to 60 mmscf of purified helium per year, and will make it the largest helium purification system in Canada. Utilizing Air Liquide’s technology, the plant will produce helium with a purity of minimum 98.5% up to 99.999%. The plant is intended to be fully operational before July 2021.
The plant purifies the raw well gas containing helium into a purified helium product, utilizing Air Liquide’s membranes designed for high and medium-pressure stages. The skid-mounted solution also includes Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) technology, in order to achieve the final helium purity. Air Liquide’s customizable helium purification solution has the ability to remove notably CO2, CH4, H2S, N2, H2, and moisture, producing purified helium, an offer that provides an exceptional value proposition for the helium industry. The skid-mounted solution offers customers with quick delivery times and low total cost of ownership all while providing best-in-class performance.
